The Sacred Hunt

20 October 2022 by Embracing Shamanism

In our modern culture today this deep sense of belonging to the Great Earth Mother may sometimes be forgotten, yet your body knows – the memory is stored in every cell of our bodies. In those early times, our ancestors were dependent on hunting, especially in colder climates, as the plant beings alone would not provide enough nourishment to survive, skins & furs were needed for warmth and a host of other uses. The act of hunting was necessary for survival and became an important and sacred part of spiritual life. Their connection to the natural world was far beyond pure survival, they were aware of the oneness they shared with all creatures on Earth, they knew they were only one small part within the circle of life. Anything that had to be taken from the Great Mother was deeply honoured and taken with respect, knowing that one day their own bodies would go back to the Earth to nourish the future cycle. We explore this further as part of the Shamanic Practitioner Training here.
